Geelong After Dark
Beginning in 2014, Geelong After Dark is the city celebration of the beautiful Mountain to Mouth arts walk through the Geelong region.
A nighttime festival of sound, light, art, performances, the CBD comes alive for one evening every May, showcasing some of the best productions from local artists and designers.
Whilst Mountain to Mouth is a biennial event, the City of Greater Geelong hosts Geelong After Dark every year to celebrate arts and culture in our region and offer opportunities for a wide range of expression from singers, designers, dancers, musicians and artists.
The theme for 2018 was Earth, with all contributors exploring this concept and how it relates to their reality or lived experience. From gorgeous projections across Town Hall, to music titled Earth, Wind and Fire, the culmination event in Johnstone Park was an interpretation of how the Waddawurrung people connected to the earth. This was performed by a range of dancers and musicians showing our transformation to modern day appropriation and control. The message was clear, return to Mother Earth and recognise the importance of sustaining our planet, or face the consequences.
