‘We The Makers’ People’s Choice Winner Announced

The National Wool Museum has finalised a winner for the People’s Choice Category from the ‘We The Makers’ exhibition.

With close to 3,000 votes cast, the National Wool Museum and Geelong UNESCO City of Design teams are delighted to announce the winners of the inaugural People’s Choice Category.

Congratulations to Geelong designers Amal Laala and Simon Piry of ‘Broc The Kasbah’ collective.

Amal and Simon will receive $2,000 to further support their fashion journey.

Their label, Broc the Kasbah is a collective of creators, designers, and artists who find inspiration in their cultural backgrounds. The collective’s clothing shops are located in Marrakech Morocco, with a pop-up store in the France’s Brittany region, and another right here in Geelong at 109 Moorabool Street.

These designers create carefully and skilfully made sustainable fashion. Each piece of clothing and accessories are unique and made by hand, with garments made from ‘default’ and ‘end of the roll’ fabrics, no more than four garments are the same.

The garments are described as comfortable, stylish and earth conscious, with a vintage feel created through colour and pattern to make you stand out in a crowd.

‘We The Makers’ would like to give a special thank-you, to all who participated and continue to support ethical fashion and designers.
