Flaim Systems extinguisher training program in high demand

A Geelong company selling virtual reality firefighting training systems into 14 countries has launched a new product focusing on using fire extinguishers at home and at work.

Named Start-up of the Year at Australia’s leading digital innovation awards, Flaim Systems’ core product, the Flaim Trainer, allows firefighters to train for the fire ground by simulating fires using virtual reality and haptic technology.

It recently diversified its product range with the launch of Flaim Extinguisher.

Chief executive James Mullins said the new product was geared towards registered training organisations or for use in schools, hospitals, nursing homes, factories and offices to train fire wardens.

“We have some of the large RTOs around Australia very interested,” Mr Mullins said.

“They can take it into a board room in a multistorey building and teach the fire wardens how to use a fire extinguisher.”

Following a $1.25 million capital raise earlier this year, Flaim Systems has increased staff to 18 and expanded its production and product development capacity. It was named Start-up of the Year at the Australian Information Industry Association awards program.
